We can walk you through everything you need to know so that you can make the right decision! Below we will go into some detail to help you pick out the right Minneapolis skateboard whether you are looking to buy a complete skateboard or just interested in grabbing some different pieces to improve your current setup.
Purchasing a Complete Skateboard (Pre-Assembled)
If you are new to the Minneapolis skateboarding scene or just don’t want to build a custom skateboard, we have a great selection of complete skateboards that are already assembled and ready to ride. Complete skateboards are often just called “completes”. This is always the simplest option if you are looking to just get riding as soon as possible or just don’t know what you need to build a custom Minneapolis skateboard. Building a Custom Skateboard Minneapolis Style
For the more experienced skaters out there, a custom setup may be just what you are looking for. Below is a list of the different components you will need. You can find all these items at 5th Block, your local Minneapolis skateboard shop.
- Skateboard deck
- Trucks (two trucks)
- Wheels (four wheels)
- Bearings (two per wheel, eight total)
- Hardware (set of eight bolts and nuts)
- Grip Tape
- Riser pads (set of two)
What Size Skateboard Deck Do You Need?
Depending on your age, height, and shoe size, you will require a specific deck size for when you assemble your custom skateboard. Stop in to 5th Block, your local Minneapolis skateboard shop, and we can help you determine the proper deck size. Here is a good rule of thumb for picking out your deck:
Full Size Deck: All skaters over the age of 13, who are taller than 5’3’’ and have a shoe size of at least 9.
- Full size decks are 7.5 inches wide or bigger
Mid Size Deck: If you are between 9 and 12 years old, between 4’5’’ and 5’2’’ tall and have size 7 or 8 shoes.
- Mid size decks are 7.3 inches wide
Mini Deck: For skaters between 6 and 8 years old, between 3’5’’ and 4’4’’ tall, and size 4-6 shoes.
- Mini decks are 7 inches wide.
Micro Deck: For all skaters up to age 5, typically under 3’4’’ tall, with size 3 or smaller shoes.
- Micro decks are between 6.5 and 6.75 inches.
